“ECO-Expo 2005” Forum

Forum “ECO-Expo 2005” was held on 16—19 February, 2005 in Information and Exhibition Centre of North-West Russia.

In the third millenium a problem of rational use of not renewed natural resources as the factor of sustainable development of economy and preservation of health of present and future generations of citizens, become priority not only for the Government, but also for representatives of industry. Solution of the first problem is possible, in particular, through active use of secondary resources received from wastes. It becomes impossible to provide competitiveness of production without implementation of economic innovations. The second problem is closely interconnected to the first. Maintenance of healthy, ecologically safe inhabitancy of the population more and more depends on release of ecologically focused, safe production of wide purpose on the market. Foreign partners, investors, consumers more and more often represent requirements on ecological maintenance of Russian goods. Besides, it's not a secret that presence of eco-label on production directly influences a sales volume. Unfortunately, not all signs on ecological quality provide the consumer with a trustworthy information about quality of the goods.

Purposes of the Forum are:

• Attraction of attention of the broad audiences to problems of ecological safety of production and its manufacture.
• Formation of sector of ecologically safe production in the consumer market.

Problems of the Forum are:

• Demonstration of achievements of modern manufacture in the field of recycling wastes technologies and manufacture of ecologically safe production.
• Demonstration of ecologically marked production; the goods which are safe for health and an environment.
• Informing both consumers and manufacturers about kinds of production's ecological marking.
• Discussion questions about ecological safety of production from the scientific point of view.

The program of the Forum “ECO-Expo 2005”:

• Conference “Ecological safety of production and quality of a life: international aspects”. Discussion problems of production’s ecological safety and quality of life.
• III International specialized exhibition — conference “Wastes — in incomes”. Environmentally safe and energy safe technologies. Equipment for gathering, depositions, transportations, recycling and processings of wastes. Production from wastes.
• IV International specialized exhibition “ECO — style of life!”. Ecological marked production; goods which are safe for health and an environment.
• Seminar “Eco-labeling as means of promotion for the market”. Alternative systems of ecological certification.
• Seminar “Preservation and strengthening of health in conditions of a modern mega-city”.
• Exhibition — fair “Be healthy!”
