Rewarding SAINT-PETERSBURG Ecological Union with European Giovanni Marcora Award.
Founded in 1991 the Saint-Petersburg Ecological Union (SPEU) is a non-commercial
partnership.
SPEU is an active member of Association for Ecological Partnership under
Saint-Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a member of Saint-Petersburg Union of
Merchandisers and Entrepreneurs. SPEU is also a co-founder of “Open City”, independent
ecological radio station and newspaper.
In 2002 SPEU was rewarded with European Giovanni Marcora Award for Agriculture,
Food and Environment.

Dissemination of ecological knowledge and participation in projects
which increase the society's ecological culture level.
Promotion of ecologically oriented business.
In 2000 SPEU developed and proceeded to the realization of "Ecology & Man" Program
— a complex program for the advancement of environmental management enterprises and for the
development of ecological thought among all levels of the population.
