Yourself and the Planet
Congress Save Yourself and the Planet was held on
3-4 April 2003. the Congress was organized by Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic
University, Russian State Hydrometeorological University, International Academy
of Sciences of Ecology and Man and Nature Safety, Saint-Petersburg Ecological
Union.
The aims of the Congress:
- Promotion of ecological knowledge;
- Presentation of the latest achievements in the sphere of
environment friendly technologies in various branches of economy;
- Presentation of the newest technologies and equipment;
- Posing the problems connected with environmental protection.
Having discussed a number of questions concerning ecology, the
participants have worked out the Resolution.
The Congress Save Yourself and the Planet is a part
of Ecology and Man Program which is conducted by Saint-Petersburg
Ecological Union and includes, beside the Congress, Ecopromotion
Project, Leaf of Life Eco-Labelling, Ecology and Man
Specialized Exhibition.
Among the participants of the Congress were leading scientists
and experts from different spheres of science, technology, production and education.
The Congress materials include theses
of 62 reports on the following topics:
- Ecological education;
- Production and services environment- and man-friendly;
- Control methods and criteria of the environmental situation
estimation;
- Neutralization of environmental adverse consequences of human
activities;
- Traditional, ethnical methods of sanitation and health maintenance;
- Waste reprocessing.
Waste reprocessing issues were discussed at the Conference Development
of waste handling technologies which was held within the frames of
the Congress.
Resolution
Congress Save Yourself and the Planet was held on
3-4 April 2003 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia in the frames of the Second Specialized
Trade Show Ecology and Man.
The organization and holding of the Congress were realized by:
Russian State Hydrometeorological University (Saint-Petersburg,
rector professor L. N. Karlin);
Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University (president member of Russian Academy
of Sciences, professor Y. S. Vasiljev);
International Academy of Sciences for Ecology and Safety of Man and Nature (Saint-Petersburg,
president professor V. A. Rogalev);
Saint-Petersburg Ecological Union (Saint-Petersburg, president S. M. Gordishevsky).
Aims of the Congress:
analysis of conditions and opportunities of the biosphere preservation with
conditions and quality of the natural environment which are necessary for a
person and which predetermine conditions and quality of life;
analysis of ecological preconditions of health preservation and improvement;
analysis of ecological validity of natural resources use and restoration;
creation of representation system about opportunities of perfection of waste
processing and recycling technologies;
discussion of offers on perfection of construction technologies corresponding
to ecological requirements and economic restrictions;
discussion of prospects of solving social ecology problems.
As a result of the discussion of the reports the participants
of the Congress have decided:
1. to approve of the initiative and activity of Mercury Ecological Enterprise
Ltd., Mechanobr-Technika JSC, Plaspolymer Research-and-Production
Association, Ecotrans-Dorservice Close Company in the field of substantiation,
development and introduction in practice of technologies and actions on improvement
of territories of industrial enterprises, transport roads and city space and
to recommend use of results and experience of the mentioned organizations by
other industrial organizations;
2. to approve of the activity of the Online waste Exchange created by Saint-Petersburg
Ecological Union and Kosmos Ecological Bureau together with British
partners and consider as necessary a formation of corresponding Bank, Register
and Cadastre of the data with the system of ecological certification on the
basis of information received by the Online Exchange;
3. to approve of the activity of Resbio Ltd in the field of reduction of ecological
danger of medical preparations and cosmetics made in the basis of superoxide
dismutase enzyme and to consider as necessary facilitating producers developing
and manufacturing food stuff and bio-active supplements with a minimized ecological
danger;
4. to approve of the activity of the State Scientific Centre Arctic and
Antarctive Scientific Research Institute, State Unitary Enterprise Engineering
Center of Ecological Works and Nevsky Close JSC in the field
of ecological substantiation of using natural resources and implementation of
practical methods of reviving natural resources and recommend using the experience
of the mentioned organizations for widening the practice of ecologically substuntiated
nature management;
5. to approve of the activity of Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University,
Saint-Petersburg State Architectural-Construcing University and Military Engineering Technical
University in the field of development of ecologically substantiated construction
technologies and to recommend construction enterprises to use such technologies
when constructing civil, industrial and military objects.
Participants of the Congress consider the problem of familiarization
with ecological awareness as a necessary condition of ecological culture and
ecological ethics to be paramount of value. In this connection the main task
of the state is training ecological knowledge and corresponding pedagogical
technologies to teachers of primary and secondary school and university lecturers.
Participants of the Congress pay attention to necessity and
timeliness of special ecological labeling (eco-labeling) as it is done in the
majority of industrially developed countries. Such eco-label is developed and
being implemented by Saint-Petersburg Ecological Union.
Participants of the Congress emphasize urgency of a substantiation
of the state ecological policy program. Its realization is an objective and
effective condition of the nature conservancy and scientifically proved use
of Russian natural resources.
